ZEBRA

After having disrupted the Italian trattoria scene with the resounding success of Daroco in the heart of the capital, Alexandre Giesbert and Julien Ross have moved into the 16th arrondissement with Zebra.  In trio mode with Romain Glize, the team has dusted off the neglected luxury brewery and given rise to the rebirth of an institution.  Here, diners enjoy revisited French classics (tartare, lobster thermidor, peppered steak, trays of seafood), while world-renowned mixologist Nico de Soto serves up fresh, inventive cocktails. The icing on the cake is the decoration, done by architects Francesca Errico and Olivier Delannoy, which focuses on marble and brass, and boasts an intricate ceiling of 5,000 threaded metal rods.  Zebra is the definite must-see of the moment, with continuous service from breakfast to dinner.

L’APPARTEMENT ATELIER LE CORBUSIER

After two years of renovation and a decision to redecorate in 1960s style, the apartment of one of the greatest architects of the 20th century is now open to the public.  Visitors to Le Corbusier’s apartment workshop are invited to stroll around, admiring the fluid space filled with pools of natural light, the master’s signature, that still hit the mark today.  Even the large marble table still seems to resonate from the lively dinners shared by the great artists of the time.  The artist’s private workshop, where Le Corbusier would often paint in solitude, prohibiting his wife Yvonne from entering the space, is now on display for visitors as well. After admiring the kitchen furniture designed by Charlotte Perriand (among other pieces), it is the roof terrace, built in the 1930s with Le Corbusier’s cousin, Pierre Jeanneret, that will once again remind you of this genius’ visionary spirit.

AESOP

This Australian brand, whose product packaging is as refined as the decoration of its boutiques around the world, has been established here in the 16th since 2015.  For the first time since the beginning of October, however, it is also the only location in France where people can benefit from in-store beauty consultations and facial treatments. Forty-five minutes of tailor-made happiness in the hands of a beautician trained in London according to the brand’s protocol?  Sounds like the perfect way to spend an afternoon in the 16th.

Its ultra-luminous signature glass roof, exterior covered in plants, and wall mosaics by Mathilde Jonquière, make of this food temple an architectural delight, as well.
