Parisian chic bars that are as good as it gets.

Everyone knows that Paris is the epitome of chic. But where do real Parisians go when they want something beyond chic? Here are five top-rated bars that will give you the most exquisite experiences.

The Best View of Paris: Cheval-Blanc Bar

© Nicolas Receveur

The bar on the 7th floor of the Cheval-Blanc is all about the view, with it’s balcony almost ankle deep in the Seine, overlooking the left bank from the Eiffel Tower to Notre-Dame via Pont Neuf. The menu perfectly executes the old classics, such as an anthology hot Bloody Mary. The best seat in the house: at the U-shaped bar, window side, so you can slip out for a postcard-style kiss.

An Exquisitely Designed Garden: The Saint James Bar

The bar at the Saint James has a formidable garden, still largely deserted at this time of the year, perfect for stepping into the shoes of a couple of lords flirting with each other during a stroll with a cocktail in hand. Inside it’s shelving of books up to the ceiling and its deep armchairs allow a cozy and warm atmosphere for a drink. Opt for the weapon of massive seduction: the gourmet Caprice based on cognac, espresso and coffee liqueur which arrives in tandem with a chocolate mousse made by the pastry chef of the hotel.

Go For The Mood: Le Sinner

Exhilarating ed decor with intimate love seats, Le Sinner and its cathedral ceilings, clearly set the mood for both sinner and saint. But we must admit that it works well. The DJ provides the perfect accompanying sounds to imbibe. The house cocktails are necessary in the perfect spot to play confession.

A Calm Embrace: Le Ran

Want a little discretion for this Valentine’s Day? Head to Le Ran, a confidential palace bar where you shouldn’t come across too much drama. Perfect for private discussions with your date, quietly languid on a bronze-coloured bench with an Asian cocktail in hand, between 17th century columns and scented candles.

Pure Decadence: The Plaza Athénée

If we tell ourselves that nothing is too much for Valentine’s Day, then a stop at the bar of the Plaza Athénée imposes itself with luxury. The decor, including the massive glass counter, champagne display and Klein blue ceiling, is an incredible atmosphere for the decadent cocktails. Be (for a short time) the kings of bling! The ideal spot: at the back, on the long benches, between two Lebanese heirs.
