Le Grand Quartier Saint Martin: an urban haven in Paris’ 10th arrondissement

Le Grand Quartier Saint Martin opened last month in the heart of the lively and diverse 10th arrondissement.  The space consists of a hotel, a café, several meeting rooms, a shop, and a rooftop terrace, all built around a large courtyard garden.  This future neighborhood within a neighborhood promises to be an “urban haven,” offering anyone a relaxing place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the capital.

The coffee shop

Thomas Lehoux, cofounder of la Brûlerie de Belleville café, is in charge of the sumptuous coffees here at Le Quartier Saint Martin.  Open all day, this cozy, yet lively, café is the perfect place for a relaxing coffee break or an afternoon pick me up.  As soon as cocktail hour rolls around, Le Syndicat takes over, crafting incomparable cocktails with the highest quality French alcohols and spirits.  Opening at 6 AM and closing at 1 AM, you can count on the café at any moment throughout the day (or night) to relax and unwind.

The garden

The feeling of calm continues outside the building, in the courtyard garden.  Feel free to sit on the benches or have a walk around, and enjoy the sunny space, the potted plants, and the planted trees.  There is even a chess-board table and seats if you’re up for a game.

The shop

The Grand Quartier’s shop exclusively supports entrepreneurs and emerging artists, hosting pop-up shops throughout the year.  Inside you can find anything from hip barber shops and craftsman leather-good brands to start-ups specializing in new technology.  Check it out regularly to see what’s on, and discover the next new trend.
