Major furniture and home decor brands flourishing around la Madeleine

With the opening of several major furniture, decor, and home-improvement stores in the area, Madeleine is becoming Paris’ haven for interior design lovers.

Change is underway in Paris’ chic 8th arrondissement. After a quiet past couple of years, Place de la Madeleine has gained new momentum thanks to real estate projects that have been launched in the area.

Already well known by foodies and tourists for its luxury gourmet restaurants, Madeleine is now becoming Paris’ epicenter for furniture and home decoration. After the opening of Leroy Merlin on the site of the former Palacio parking garage in June of 2018 and with the imminent arrival of a city-center-friendly Ikea, online furniture brand Miliboo has chosen to locate its flagship store in this business district in central Paris.

Looking to expand the brand, the company has purchased a 1,000 m² space at 14, boulevard de la Madeleine to showcase part of its online collection. In this three-story hybrid concept store, customers can try out the company’s reasonably priced furniture and test the brand’s latest technology-based pieces, like their integrated mirror. Visitors can also access the entire collection online via in-store computers.

This new store has replaced its 400 m² rue Réaumur (2nd) location, which closed in January. “We needed to be present in a part of town that was emblematic in terms of visibility and traffic. With the opening of this new store in the heart of this prestigious district, Miliboo is taking a new step forward in its development and continues to implement its strategy of combining e-commerce and physical points of sale,” explains Guillaume Lachenal, the company’s founder and CEO.

Although Leroy Merlin itself already attracts a decent number of Parisian to the area, the opening of Ikea on May 6th will further increase visitor traffic, undoubtedly attracting, as is the case with Miliboo, other home-furniture brands in the future.
