Where history whispers through centuries-old streets…

Nestled on the third floor of a well-maintained period building, this 56.73m² (610 sq ft) charming apartment is light-filled and pin-drop quiet in the heart of the bustling Haut-Marais neighborhood.

The apartment’s classical Parisian features include soaring 2.85-meter ceilings, original oak parquet flooring, and authentic tomettes (traditional terracotta tiles) in the living area. The double living room (24.1m²) has an original working fireplace.

A welcoming entrance hall with built-in storage leads to a fully equipped modern kitchen adjacent to the living area. Two well-proportioned rooms offer flexibility as bedrooms or a bedroom-office combination, while a tastefully appointed bathroom completes the practical amenities.

The property’s most remarkable feature in bustling central Paris is its absolute tranquility. Each room overlooks peaceful courtyards, creating a serene sanctuary in the city’s historic heart. The building offers secure bicycle storage, and the apartment includes a private cellar.

The Haut-Marais is one of Paris’s most sought-after locations. The area is renowned for its architectural heritage, sophisticated boutiques, art galleries, and some of the capital’s finest restaurants and cafés. Rue Meslay is steps from the bustle of Place de la République, and a short walking distance from the picturesque Place des Vosges and Canal Saint Martin.

What we see: Light refreshing and rethinking of the space would go a long way. The kitchen and bathroom are in good condition but could use a relook. A mix of period furniture and modern amenities would result in a smart and cozy Paris pied à terre. Contact us to learn more about the apartment, and options for purchase, renovation, and decor.

Location

Paris: 3rd arrondissement

The northern part of the historic Marais, the third is an eclectic neighborhood with plenty to see and do. The wholesale shopping around Place de la Republique quickly turns more quaint and small-neighborhood as you head south. “Temple” is a trendy corner of Paris at the moment with lots of bars, good-value restaurants and art galleries at every turn. The streets are filled with locals, foreign and international, out to have a good time. The heart of the Marais is between rue de Turenne and rue des Archives, where you will find wonderful museums and galleries in old hôtel particuliers, a number of Paris’ renown hidden parks and gardens, restaurants, cafés, and boutique shopping. Head east to the border of the 3rd and 11th arrondissements to find more up-and-coming restaurants and hipster hangouts.

Not long ago, a savvy buyer could expect to find an inexpensive apartment to renovate in the northern 3rd arrondissement. Those days are long gone. Expect heftier prices around République, and down from there as you enter the historic Marais. Look for prices to continue to rise in the northern part of the 3rd, with the renovation of the Marché du Temple and the Place de la République, and the areas around the Marais.
