Data shows that 2016 has been a remarkable year for new housing starts, with building permit issuance going up by 14.8% and prices on the rise – up by 0.9% in the last three months and 2.4% for the year.
This adds to the numbers confirming the healthy state of the French real estate market in 2016, predicting a continued growth in 2017. The government reported on November 29 that new housing starts in France increased by 14.8% during the last year, and 7.5% over the last three months.
Apartment building construction specifically has gone up even more, with the launches of new projects increasing by 20.3% over the last year and 10.3% over the last three months.
Ile-de-France is one of the most dynamic regions, with the number of new housing starts increasing by 25.7% (second only to Corsica, where construction starts have gone up by a staggering 64.5%). With so much new property being built, and people buying it, it’s clear that 2017 will be a promising year for new housing and the real estate market in general.
