Before & After: rue Pigalle

This Australian client wanted to find a 2-bedroom pied à terre in a period building with good bones.

Since she spends a lot of time in Paris, she focused her search in the 9th and 18th arrondissements, looking for a village-like residential feeling, removed from the normal tourist zones. We found her an apartment with charming street views on one side and overlooking a green courtyard on the other, located near rue des Martyrs in the 9th arrondissement, but it was hard to imagine how it would turn out at the time.    The apartment had been badly abused by it’s previous occupant, additionally there was no elevator (but one was planned for the future). However, the building was well maintained and the bones, wiring and plumbing of the apartment were in good shape; only cosmetic changes were needed.  The vision paid off and now an elegant remodel makes the place nearly unrecognizable.  In the end, our client has a place she can be proud to call her home away from home.
