Paris: Cars Banned From the Center by 2024

Goodbye cars!

By 2024, the center of Paris will be exempt from our dear motorists, to the delight of our pedestrians and cyclists.

Paris without cars seems like a distant dream… However, the center of the capital will ensure many streets and boulevards are without cars by 2024. This phrase, “Zone apaisée” (Peaceful Zone), had already been announced and was originally scheduled to emerge in 2022.  The project is a little delayed, but the City of Paris announces that it will be put in place before the Olympic Games.

A peaceful center of Paris

The Peaceful Zone includes: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th arrondissements on the right bank, then, 5th, 6th, 7th arrondissements on the left bank. The idea is obviously to reduce traffic, for a better experience for pedestrians and cyclists. This type of approach has already been implemented in cities such as Rome, Milan and Madrid. Here are the precursors! Taxis, VTC, people with reduced mobility, craftsmen and traders will be exempted if necessary. So, ready to frolic in the center of Paris without constraints?
