Winter 2019: Paris’ coziest heated terraces

You’ve certainly noticed that the first winter chills have indeed arrived in the capital.  It’s time for grey Parisian skies and chilly temperatures, mittens and down jackets.  Happily for us, however, Paris is full of places where we can take shelter and thaw without having to barricade ourselves indoors.  Many locales are delighted to welcome Parisians on their heated terraces during the cold winter months.  Read on to discover which terraces pariszigzag.fr has selected as some of their favorites.

 

1. Le Terrass’’ Hôtel: Panoramic

Head to the seventh floor of this luxurious hotel to discover one of Paris’ most sophisticated rooftops.  Designed to reflect a bonafide artist’s loft, decked out in leather and wood, le Terrass” Hôtel offers us a breathtaking view of Paris’ most beautiful monuments.  Passing the picture windows, have a seat on the heated terrace decorated with plants and furnished with deckchairs, and take in the magic of this elegant locale.

2. Le Square Marcadet: Intimate

This charming space, situated at the foot of la butte Montmartre, hides a small, rustic patio, veiled in ivy and bambou, at the back of its restaurant.  Simply put, visitors appreciate Le Square Marcadet for the tranquility and welcome change of scenery that it offers.  A particularly exotic setting that inspires the sweetest of daydreams.

3. L’Hôtel Amour: Idyllic

Situated a stone’s throw from Pigalle, this cosy and retro boutique-hotel is the ideal place for an intimate date night.  Its gorgeous heated terrace, nestled among plants on all sides, creates an absolutely picturesque atmosphere.  Around the art-deco tables illuminated with candlelight, time seems to stop.

4.  L’Hôtel Particulier Montmartre: Old Fashioned

Tucked away high atop la butte Montmartre, there is little chance you will stumble upon this hotel by accident.  Accessible by a private and discrete alleyway, visitors must show ID at the interphone if they hope to enter this exclusive setting.  Once inside, you’ll fall in love.  Nestled against the building, lies the quiet winter garden of Très Particulier, the hotel’s cocktail bar.  In perfect harmony with the old style of this establishment, the ambiance is both tropical and sensual at the time, with all its staircases, trees, flowers, and candles.

5. Monsieur Bleu: Artistic

Magnificently decorated in Art Deco style, this restaurant sheltered within the confines of the Palais de Tokyo is bound to amaze.  The establishment has 10 meter high ceilings and opens onto a vast terrace with a marvelous view of the Eiffel Tower and the Seine.  Heated in the winter, nothing is better than taking refuge here during a big snowstorm.

6. Le Hibou: Trendy

Next stop Odéon, where small trendy bistrot Le Hibou is easily recognizable by its blue awning and large, open heated terrace.  A favorite among Parisians, interested parties should arrive early if they hope to find a place under the heat lamps.

7. Les Climats: A classified historic monument

This restaurant makes an impression right from the get go through its beautiful Art Nouveau decorations. The building, which dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, once housed the “Demoiselles de la Poste”, those women working for the national postal service at the time.  Since then, the building has been renovated, all while preserving the majestic ornamentation that has been classed as a historic monument.  Behind the large picture windows, visitors will discover a charming winter garden, situated under a skylight.  This is a dream setting for those in search of a serene locale to wind down.

8.  Le Sinople: Sporty

The heated terrace of Le Sinople is surely one of the capital’s best-kept secrets.  Tucked away on the grounds of Le Klay fitness club, this small patio is a definite charmer for all visitors, accessible to members and non-members alike.
