Real estate portal SeLoger buys up vacation rental site Amivac

French real estate site SeLoger.com has acquired Amivac.com, a website specializing in holiday rental property in France. 

Launched in 1996, SeLoger publishes real estate classifieds online and is one of the main resources for sale and rental property search in France. In July, it announced its acquisition of vacation rental site Amivac.com, a site dedicated to rental property listings. The purchase will add nearly 30,000 ads to the existing rental accommodation listings porfolio of the site. 

SeLoger told AFP that “this strategy coincides perfectly with that of its parent company Axel Springer’s purchase of majority shares in the @Leisure group, a European vacation rental company, in 2014”. German digital publishing giant Axel Springer acquired SeLoger in 2011.

With Amivac’s 26,000 ads in France and 2,000 in Spain, the acquisition “fits in perfectly with our desire to strengthen our position in France, but also to accelerate our expansion into Europe”, says Roland Tripard, the President of SeLoger’s directory.

Earlier listing acquisitions by the SeLoger group include that of ImmoStreet.com in 2002, a website specializing in international real estate as well as properties in France; and vacances.com in 2012. In order to better structure its seasonal rental offer, the company launched SeLogerVacances in 2009, offering rentals in everything from caravans and camping lots, to countryside guest houses and luxurious villas.

The addition of Amivac to the group not only supplements the rental offer catalog, but also offers a fresh method of searching for property. The website allows for precise search criteria ranging from the choice of a chalet, barge or mobilhome amongst others; and specifics like the desired distance from the seaside via a dropdown menu ranging from 100 meters to 50 kilometers.

Potential renters may also select from a list of required amenities, such as a dishwasher, private swimming pool or Jacuzzi, or ocean views.

Selecting the “unusual rentals” category brings up all sorts of oddities: from the tipi bordering a medieval fortress to a riverside Troglodyte house, and even a Yourte — Mongolian tent — in the Côtes d’Armor.
